If you have not attended a first aid course within the last three years, this is an opportunity for you to renew your First Aid certificate. It is a requirement that all pharmacists who are providing immunisation services to have valid HLTAID003 and HLTAID001 Certificates. HLTAID003 – Provide First Aid offered through the PSA has been specifically designed to meet the needs of pharmacists in a primary care setting in providing first aid during medical emergencies. More specifically, it provides participants with the knowledge and skills needed to manage emergency first aid situations and deliver competent emergency care until the arrival of professional medical support.
This is a one day face to face course with pre-work (a question and answer workbook available to complete online). This course is assessed through demonstration, presentation and application of all elements of competency in the workplace. Participants will be required to complete activities that may include role-plays, oral and written questioning, practical demonstrations and performing scenarios.
