Dental presentations make up a significant number of patient visits to community pharmacies. While most, in their early presentation are generally limited to pain and discomfort, may progress to cause potentially life-threatening complications. Early detection, proper treatment and referral to a dentist or other healthcare professional are essential to ensure patients presenting with oral and dental conditions have the best possible outcomes.
This workshop will describe common conditions that may present in the community pharmacy setting, the potential impact of polypharmacy and adverse drug events on dental health and the role of pharmacists in treating and triaging patients presenting with dental complaints.
